It is Memorial Day Weekend 2021 and two high school sweethearts are meeting in person for the first time in 30 years. They have come to the Best Western Plus Brooklyn Bay Hotel in Coney Island to see what the future holds for them. Coney Island Land is a play about memory, nostalgia, middle age, and love in the time of a pandemic. 

 

This project began in 2019 over drinks in San Diego when three grad school friends decided to work together again. Conversations during Covid turned into scenes and eventually a play was born. It was workshopped extensively over Zoom from our respective homes in Austin, LA, and San Diego. We are excited to finally bring it to the stage in our world premiere production.
